actually, I tested my evo for music playback with the screen off and it didn't use much battery at all... i let it play for hours and it didn't even put a dent, so i just gave up on the test. Of course, video playback is something completely different...

I think in a year or two, people won't feel the need to have two separate devices. Even if they prefer a certain brand, I think they'll be satisfied with what their phone offers.... we already have the iPhone with the ipod player and Windows Phone 7 with its zune player by the end of the year... you gotta think google is planning to improve considering both their competitors will be offering something good
