Actually yes, its been my bible for setting up droid, but you know the geekers creed, "if it aint broke, tear it apart and find out why" .

But I have finally managed to get droid to work with the sim card .

I can't take credit for this but it worked.
1. Make sure droid is up and running and working fine.
2. Shut down, remove SD card, insert sim card, restart.
3. After complete boot, got to settings>personal>phone and set to cdma only.
4. shut down again, insert sd card and reboot.

I have booted into droid about 6 times over 4 hours and it seems to be sticking. Hope this helps someone out there, lol.

Edit: Yes I use X button
