Messenger won't use WiFi

First post. Yay me.

I looked around for this, but didn't see anything like it and didn't come across it in the manual. The title pretty much says it all. When I'm connected to a WiFi network, everything seems to work except for Messenger, which only seems to want to use cellular data to connect. IE works, update works... everything but Messenger. Is there a way to tell Messenger to not worry about the cellular data (I decided against the data plan, so it doesn't work anyway) and use the WiFi like all the other good little apps? Thanks...

P.S. I'm on the Qwest network if that matters, which is for all intents and purposes Sprint.
