Well I thought i would start a thread here for those of us that are not aware of this development.
Over at xda a couple of apps for oc the tp2 have been created, I have been able to get Netrippers app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725290 to work on my Alltel tp1 for 30 days now rock solid at 710.
I did this by following Qzytor's guide for the Blackstone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1191 with some modifications.
Netripper originally stated that his app only worked on AC power etc. and seemingly abandoned devolpment. lots of folks created scripts to get this working on the TP2 followed by Oruam57 creating setcpuspeed for the TP2 crowd that uses the dll from Netrippers original app. Others (including Qzytor) then modified registry settings for this that are beyond the capability of setcpuspeed to modify. Based on all these folks great work this is what I came up with that works for me on the TP1.
these are the modified instructions and registry settings I use
Install NetRipper's Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device (installs needed files for this to work as well as a way to see your current speed)
Install oruam57's SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card. (runs in the background to hold speed on AC power, avoid the infamous sleep of death associated with this overclock method and automatically sets speed at reboot)
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
now there are two methodsto complete the final step, either install
SetCpuSpeed Touch Pro Settings.cab , reinstall sd card and soft reset
Or
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 37 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 20
SettlingTime = 10
each performance step is equivilant to 19.2 mhz
Close Registry editor, insert SD card in the phone and soft reset the phone.
Once the phone has fully boot up, give it a minute before opening NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed and you should see your OCed cpu speed.
If your OC cpu speed isnt stable then take your SD card out,soft reset the phone and registry edit PerfomanceLevel to a lower value.
To restore back to phone default speed and uninstall oc software:
Remove SDcard
Soft reset
Uninstall
Tank has made some cool cabs in post 2.
SetCpuSpeed Touch Pro Settings.cab will eliminate the hassle of opening a reg editor and imports the above reg edits for you
SetCpuSpeed-1.0dTouchPro.cab is as Tank states "a moddified cab of the SetCpuSpeed-1.0d.cab with the settings already installed". I have tested it and it does work, just cancel out of the install when it gets to the config part and it will finish the install fine.
***IMPORTANT NOTE***
always install setcpuspeed to sd card. this give you the ability to remove your sd card, soft reset and adjust your speed via reg settings or uninstall should your phone lock up due to the overclock
