then I went to CHT editor / applications/messaging and selected the shortcut.
Now one click on sms homescreen notification bar get me straight into text.
yup thats definitely an another interesting way to get to tmail. One thing I noticed is that doing it my way (creating the shortcut to tmail, adding the parameters -SMS or whatnot) is that CHT didn't like it to much and wouldn't load if I set my shortcut as the messaging client. Not a big deal for me though, I have a custom icon for text messaging and I use the CHT notification bar right above it

Unfortunately doing it you way doesn't fix "the problem", but at least this knocks out shortcuts as being a suspect leading to the annoyance in opening messages in a screen that is not fully scrolled down
