From what I've read, yes, the Evo is very hard to brick. Even the Unrevoked team has only seen one and they aren't even sure if it couldn't have been fixed. If anyone is going to brick a phone it's those Dudes. Of course never say never
Are you on Clockwork Recovery? That's the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions an issue with Dalvik. If you are then look for an advanced option, dalvik should be in there as well.

Like I said above wiping Cache after Factory/Data is redundant-you just wiped it as part of the Factory/Data wipe. Battery stats is personal preference-definitely not required but I 'spose it can't hurt.
