I think a gps company should either
A: update a device for a good long time, building them in such a way that they can be updated easily along side with their modern cousins
or
B: make it crystal clear when they sell a device that its life is gonna end fairly soon. Or even stop selling it once it seems clear the next thing has a release date in a year or so.

But they didn't do that, and that sucks. It is what it is. Tell your story to anyone who actually BOUGHT Windows Vista, they will laugh in your face. Or how about anyone who bought an HD2 right before Microsoft confirmed it would never get a WP7 upgrade! They sure could have told us that before we bought the damn phone.
Sometimes companies don't do what you want or think they should do, but that does not excuse breaking the law or infringing copyright protection.
You got a few good years use out of the program, now it's time to part ways.
