while lithium batteries don't need trained, the devices/software controlling the charge often does. also draining the battery in the phone will NOT fully discharge the battery, rather the level drops to low to power the cpu. draining fully with the phone is simply telling the hardware & o/s what the real 'low' level is.
but yes, lithium likes juice and keeping on the charger when ever possible will provide the longest life to the battery.
