802.11 is pretty much wifi..but there are revisions of it..being 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n
Each revision brings more speed and other factors to the table...802.11b is 11mbps, 802.11g is 54mbps(sams as 802.11a but it operates in 5ghz band), and 802.11n is 150mbps (depending on MIMO it can go up to 300-600mbps..and can operate in both 2.4ghz and 5ghz band...it also has farther range then the others)
