Re: Possible battery fix from HTC!
Ive had the EVO for 2 days now, was wanting to wait for the EPIC but my wife wanted the evo as well so i wasnt going to be stuck with an out of date BB and her with a new phone so i bought myself one as well..... I bought mine around 5 in the afternoon and right out of the box i couldnt put it down, i plugged it into the car charger on the way home since it was in the yellow, got home played some more with it on the home charger and went to sleep hoping for a fully charged EVO when i awoke for work... to my dismay within the first 2 hours it had dropped to half battery with light internet adn texting and 2 calls!!! at this point i was kicking myself in the ass since i had read over and over on reviews that the EVO had battery power issues. I hooked it into the car charger in my work vehicle until i got off work. Arrived home playing with the phone just a bit all the while reading up everywhere i could about tweaks and tricks to conserve battery and I stumbled upon this thread...
My EVO came out of the box with 2.2 Froyo so I thought ok the battery wont be an issue since there was alot of chatter on the net about Froyo fixing the issue but it didnt. At this point I run and automatic task killer, all sync to apps turned down or off, GPS off and i run WiFi at home from my router, did the CDMA PRL check, and still nothing was improving my battery life. This morning after reading this thread I did all the steps, turned my phone on and decided to put it to the test. Since i was off today and had nothing planned but a lazy relaxing day, I made it a point to stay on the phone constantly, texting, talking, surfing the net, downloading apps etc. etc. to see if this trick had worked. This all began around Noon and the battery finally gave out to the point of shutting itself off around 9:30. This to some may not seem like a long time but keep in mind i made it a point to use it non stop except for eating within this time frame. THe phone was only Idle for minutes at a time... I was bound and determined to put the phone thru the paces and i hope it stays like this and i wont have to trade it in for the EPIC because the more and more i look at the EPIC the less it looks appealing to me.
I do however admit that not giving the phone a first full charge without disruption probably was my first mistake. I'm guessing this trick will ReTrain the Battery and phone to see full charge like it shouldve from the get go. So for any future EVO owners , Don't play with it right out of the box REFRAIN from it!!. Take it directly to a power source plug it in and let it get a Full first charge, power it down and then as mentioned in the first post plug it back in until the light goes green!!!...lol
I'll keep my fingers crossed that from here on out the battery with normal use will get me through the day without camping beside a power outlet...lol
Sorry for the long first post but i just finished a 16oz Red Bull and had some energy to burn...
