Oh my god, it's because the cord I was using doesn't charge the phone. It showed the charging light, which, you know, I assumed meant it was charging, but it was not.
Agh, I apologize. I was just really freaked out because I did what the above poster said with the USB-M.USB cord and it didn't work. Stock cord worked.
