I was contracted to do a site survey for a major retailer who is setting up a temp location in a nearby mall. I was sent three aircards (Verizon, AT&T and Sprint) and a netbridge device.
I set the rig up at my house and was fairly surprised at the results. All connected at 3G
AT&T was the winner at 2.45Mbps dl and 705kbps ul (showing POOR signal)
Verizon was second at 1.4Mbps dl and 110 ul (showing excellent signal)
Sprint was third at 700kbps dl and about 100 ul (showing excellent signal)
I confirmed the sprint speeds also with my Samsung Moment (showing 6 bars signal) using easytether, achieving similar results.
At the mall the differences were even more pronounced. AT&T connected at 3G, Verizon connected at 3G, and Sprint only could connect at 2G. Again, AT&T showed poor signal, Verizon and Sprint showed excellent signals
AT&T showed poor signal again with 1.44Mbps dl and 500kbps ul (3g)
Verizon showed 135kps dl, and 60kbps ul (3g)
Sprint showed 135kps dl and 70kbps ul (2g)
Again my Samsung Moment agreed with the Sprint aircard although it said EVDO
I have screenshots, latency times and and SNR ratios if anyone is interested. I used the same server on
www.speedtest.net to test speeds.
