Tried those, no go. Did a little more research and found my problem.
It was actually two problems - first, the front buttons, which were fixed by re-flashing to stock.
For the keyboard, it turns out this model has a habit of the keyboard ribbon cable coming loose. Found a blog post, complete with pictures, on how to secure that, and that fixed my problem.
