Also remember to have Backup Software. It is handy for those times when you want to test software and if it doesn't work you can always restore it. I use (HTC DATA Backup)
If you want to add more value to your phone you can always flash your ROM to the new WM6.1 GPS enabled ones. Or learn to cook a custom one.
I also use the TCPMP player to view all kinds of videos especially Youtube if you install this with a FLASH VIDEO BUNDLE.
If you dont want to make the leap into flashing your ROM to have GPS but still want the feature of finding your destination. Try out Google Maps Beta which now has cellular triangulation. Or use Microsoft Live Search which does the same but has extra features. ( I prefer Live Search )
Also the Mogul / 6800 might give you issues with memory so find the OXIOS MEMORY program. This is used to release free memory when needed.
If you want to be able to use a 8 GB sd card try installing the SDHC.777 CAB which will enable the use of 8 GB cards. (Some custom ROMS have this integrated)
Find your self a good registry editor.
If you find your self with volume problems. Search for the Audiopara file which makes your speaker phone and earpiece louder when you get a call.
Also try using the SRS WOWHD cab which will make your phone louder when you play music, get a call and so on. This helps alot with the proper settings.
Anything else you can let your imagination do the work. These were just the ones that I install on my ROMS or that I suggest most of the time.
