I guess I should wait until people actually review the EPIC. Sure it sounds pretty amazing, however a SUPER AMOLED screen may F&%@ up your battery pretty bad too...........Hmph.

I do prefer the Epic 4g..specs aside...I can't do without a keyboard phone....it is not a preference as I prefer to type on screen..but I just MUST have a keyboard phones for some of the vital things I need to do.
In terms of specs most of the advantage comes from the CPU and onboard GPU..The snapdragon in the EVO is pretty much 4 years old..while the CPU in the Epic is 1 years old...The GPU on the Evo is a bit lower then a PSP..the GPU on the Epic is a EVO + PS2 combined >.>
The Super AMOLED supposedly uses less energy then standard LCD and the 45nm process on the CPU means less energy use there too..
But its not like Galaxy S phones are without issues..top 3 issues being (This is not about the Epic..this about Galaxy S phones in general)
1) GPS problems for some people (community made a few workarounds but it does not help everyone..samsung promised a fix in September)
2) Samsung messed up making the I/O crappy..(community has a fix for this and it makes a huge difference in getting rid of some lag)
3) Unexplainable battery drainage (yes I know I said the components drain less...well they should but some people, mostly in the US version are reporting large battery drain..of course even with this drain its still a bit better then the evo by a tad bit..those that have no drain one got 84 hours battery life on-stock..but this is GSM..CDMA uses more energy)
But yeah it was bound to end up a VS thread :/
Check out the Samsung Galaxy Series sub forum for a bunch of reviews on the Epic and such..
