I would think the old, free version would still be free. I know I am not at all compelled to now pay for what I have already in hand for free, since it was given away for free by the developer.

It's always tricky when you want to go from giving away the crack to selling the crack - taking his site link off line and asking people to not post links under the bogus "legal problems" banner for a full month was a good play, I give him full points for creativity.

Bottom line, if you can find the old free cab, it should be just fine to use it. Try google. If the developer ends up adding additional features you want/need or if you want/need to give him (more) money, then go for the "commercial" version.

I'm a little unclear what he's selling though - registry settings? Patched Microsoft DLLs? A simple gui around those two?
