here are some simplified steps....
-reboot into recovery, do a nandbackup
-toggle USB, copy the fresh data.img to c:\sdk\tools (or wherever your path is)
-copy new ROM to sd card
-toggle USB again
-wipe data & dalvik-cache
-flash new ROM (DONT REBOOT)
-wipe data & dalvik-cache again
-power down
-boot into bootloader
-select fastboot
-from pc (usb cable plugged in still) type... fastboot flash userdata data.img
-when finished, reboot

I will have to try this when I get home, I have spent the entire day trying to get the new PRI. At one point I even restored a version of Eclair I had backed up before Froyo was released. I am going out of my mind trying to get this to work.
1 question OMJ, is there any difference between doing an actual nanbackup and backing up using ROM Manager?
The backup is only so after we get the PRI updated we can restore our rom right? It's really the other steps that matter most to get the stupid thing to update, right?
Thanks.
