i turned off all the home screens but the main and the quicklink screens, so its not bad at all..
sure if you have skinned out clocks on all those screen, the music player-especially the BIG size one, contact links, weather stuff... yeah its gonna be a HUGE resource hog... turn all that other crap off, bye bye CHT lag..
But your right, ive always heard MAX is good on resources, over CHT.. i just dont know how many use all that extra stuff because its there by default and just never really played with all the options on it to know they can shut it all down and just have the screens their used to with anything before 1.8.5..
