Re: Android Wallpaper Steals Your Info...
I saw one of those guys and another (drunk) guy give the talk at defcon... well, I'm no so worried as far as the twilight app goes.. The story behind it is that he created an account, published a program that "shows clips of the new twilight movie." Although all people recognized the program was bunk, (had nothing), many still left it installed. Interesting right?
What's more is that google has the ability to uninstall programs from your phone like apple, as it was tested out on that guys program. It was cool how he found out (while driving). So by voluntarily pulling the program from the market, he was allowed to continue with that account. Though he said you kinda get 3 strikes before you're banned.
But that sort of thing doesn't worry me, as many have said if you download a wall paper and it requests a lot of permissions, something is wrong. What DOES worry me is that someone can actually force the installation of apps on EVERYONES phone. Good thing most just don't know how to do that.
Check out his defcon talk at their website. Video will be up some day along with presentation slides.
* Side note: A google/android rep was there listening to the talks!
