So, I'm going to do my best to make it abundantly clear.

IF YOU DO THE FROYO OTA, YOU WILL LOSE ROOT ACCESS FOREVER!

Because it hasn't been released/leaked yet, there is no way of telling how hard it will be to crack it. They may be able to bypass whatever Sprint/HTC does and gain root access again, but it's not guaranteed.

Your best bet, if you want to keep root access is to wait. Usually a day or two after the update, the devs release a rooted version of the same rom. Last OTA took about 16hrs to be released as a rooted version. This one won't take long either.
If you decide to do the OTA because it's such an "amazing opportunity to run the Official FROYO release and I couldn't help myself," don't go crying in the rooting thread later that you want to use Wifi tethering and can't.

On that note, this is still great news. Thanks OP. I look forward to running the rooted version of this sometime next week.
i agree with this one..

wait and see what happens while others and devs take a look at it... knowing Sprint theres bound to be something in there to try to block things they know you guys have already done - ie root, etc..

otherwise you may end up as the posts were bound to see - " help! the OTA broke my phone" - just like everyone rushing to do the first 2 OTAs
