Don't know about the freezing problem. I've dumped that rom into 3 different EV kitchens myself without a problem. You will still need to take the some EXT's from the dump to add some required files to your OEM folder. I tried the same thing you are wanting to do without much immediate success. I'll upload a fresh dump in a few min when I get on my other computer.
