the picture I posted on the same page as your post is of a DEMO UNIT from the Corporate Sprint Store. It can't be dropped as it is tethered to the display casing.

But yes I do agree it is caused by NORMAL use of the power button. Usually caused by pressing the phone on or off using the power button from the front.

I have had to change my method pressing the button from behind, so not to cause any pressure on the plastic of the casing between the power button and the speaker, since it is not fully supported at the edge.

as for people experiencing the cracks on the volume area,, we can't apply the same explanation.

Dropping it just in case IMO can not cause the cracks pictured.
