Then, you get other homescreen launchers and you can change how things look, not how they behave, you can change what they do when you press or long-press on them. I know everyone says how functional and how wonderful the look-and-feel is in Android, I think it's very buttoned-up and the perfect example of letting the developers tell you what the UI should look like. This is always a problem when you let the developers make design decisions. There needs to be more thought-out UI decisions in Sense, but I'm sure I'll hear from many who disagree with me.
I too came from WM6x and I was a little surprised as how little customization was allowed in the screens. For example, can't even have folders in the applications page where you can store applications. The fact that it's taking until 2.2 to store applications on the SD card is mind-boggling to me.
Android seems like a garage experiment and we're all the guinea pigs. This, in my opinion, comes from the "open" architecture world mentality. Yet, it's really not or else you wouldn't have to root your phone to uninstall bloatware.
Again, all my .02 (devalued American)

Not dogging you at all with what I am going to say so dont take it the wrong way.
With windows 6.1 downloading things wasnt as popular as downloading is on android. Most of us used cab files to customise our phones and most of us had some no how. Even still I can recall several post by people saying oh man this and that dont work and why not. And sometimes these problems came from people installing things on there SD card that shouldnt be installed on the SD card but instead should be installed in the main memory. Anyway not everything can be installed on the SD card somethings have to be installed on the main memory. I see lots of problem posts coming in the futur once 2.2 is actually released lol. Features are great and nowing how to use them is important unfortunantly commen sense and reading directions is for "da stupid" now days lol. Anyway bring on froyo and lets get this party started.
