I found this over at XDA. Props to user "Everal"; seems to know his stuff. It appears to work (threading and viewing messages), but I literally just installed it 10 minutes ago and didn't get the chance to fully test. This thread has a bit more info; the fix that I posted supposedly works for IMAP (Gmail).
