Re: [TUTORIALS] EVO Full Root|OTA Root|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing|for n00b's + vide

[QUOTE=Jspecrx7;1870359]Ok I got it working all the way through, ends up I had the wrong PC36img. When you do the "SimpleRoot OTA 1.47.651.1 Edition" it loads a a PC36img file on your sd card. Apparently it was the wrong one that I needed. I downloaded the other version from whitslacks thread and that did the trick. Thanks for the help man, so whats my next step? I see the Superuser permission icon in the apps menu, but when I click it, its blank. My current software is back to 1.47.651.1 and my 4G is working again thank god.

Sweet!
Superuser will be blank initially until you start running apps that require root permission. As you do Superuser will prompt you to Allow and then if you click on the icon you'll be looking at your Whitelist (allowed apps). I generally "set it and forget it" as all my apps need to have constant, permanent access.

As far as your next step-so if you successfully flashed whitslack then you are on a rooted version of the 1.47 Stock ROM. You can run with that.
OR you can nand back that up for safe keeping and try out some custom ROMS.

Either way run ROM Manager (either DL from the Market or it'll most likely be included with a custom ROM) and use the options I talked about last night to install your Recovery image. You will always be able to run the manual recovery I told you about last night but it's much more convenient to have it permanently installed.
Flash Clockwork Recovery and stay with that or do that THEN select Flash Alternate Recovery form the ROM Manager menu and use a version of amon RA Recovery (that's what I'd do).
