He said it only happened since he got the case, so there for if he remove the case and try it then it will be fine. So he has already done what you are suggesting. As far as the issue with aftermarket charges, I have known about that for quite sometime, in this case he is talking about the case and not the charger since it hasn't happened before he got the case.
