Don't forget that typically a newer cpu has a smaller die, the smaller the die the less watts used to power it. This in turn is greater battery life.

So if the Snapdragon and Hummingbird have a 45nm die size now and the 1.2, 1.5 or 2.0 chips have a smaller die size it should use less power...
