Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM v1.6 | Eclair | *Updated | 6/30/10*

ALL credit to frankenstein @XDA

Thought I'd mention-
If anyone wants to get adb remount back and have a # by default when you run adb shell then frankenstein over a xda has been kind enough to fix it for us. This is just something to play with. I gave OMJ a heads up-dunno if he needed it or not. I tested it and it works fine.

Here is the kernel with the modified default.prop that allows the use of adb remount to remount the /system partition read\write. This mod also allows you to go directly to the # prompt when you do adb shell without having to enter su to get root access in the shell. The only mod in this kernel is the change to default.prop which allows these things.

I've been running the kernel with the moded default.prop for about 6 hours with no problems. I've run quadrant and linpack as well as google goggles, Layar, mahjong, jewels and a significant number of other apps as well; constantly since loading the mod all without problem. Everything works.

Do a nandroid backup before you flash this. Then you can easily fail back to the original kernel by restoring your nandroid backup or by flashing the stock-kernel.zip I've included here as well.

To flash, just copy it to the root of your sd card then reboot into recovery and select flash zip. Then select the zip file and let fly.

I'm attaching both the unmodified kernel as stock-kernel.zip

and

the one with the modified default.prop as default-prop-mod-kernel.zip

both are signed and can easily be flashed via recovery.
