there should be a notification in the top taskbar, no? like if you just tap the task bar, a bigger 6.5.X taskbar should appear and the notification should be in there...i think

Well It would require some PST editing and assuming Sprint would activate it, which i doubt they would. But yes the phone CAN run on any cdma carrier
