Try updating your profile and PRL...If that doesn't work call CS and have them look at your account. Something may not be provisioned right...I had the same issue when I got my TP2.
If your roaming that could cause it to go straight to VM. Is your coverage not the best where you live? If it is semi bad call up CS and talk to Tech Support...tell them your situation and they should be able to send you to the Retention department to get a device called an Airave...this will give you full service within your house....make sure they don't charge you for monthly service or for the device...thats what I did and have been happy since..
