Good little write-up, though I've got a couple things for ya! First, I had the same issue with the Facebook app. After a bit of troubleshooting, pulling my hair out, and getting to my whits end to find out what was killing my battery, someone suggested the Facebook sync as the culprit due to an error with it.
What happens, is the Facebook sync constantly downloads, never allowing your phone to sleep and eating up your connection bandwidth. Fortunately, you can turn ONLY the Facebook sync off in the 'Accounts & sync' section in settings. The issue is supposed to be fixed in the latest OTA update, however there's more problems with the update than there are fixes right now.
Personally I never turn data sync off, just the Facebook portion, and I have zero issues with battery life due to it.
Also, the power widget is all well and good, however I personally love the 'Switch Pro' widget from the market... Here's how I have mine set up:
From left to right: Data Connection, 4G Connection, Wifi Connection, Bluetooth Connection, GPS Connection, Brightness Control, and Flashlight.
The widget itself offers more options...
Wifi Connection, Data Connection, Bluetooth Connection, GPS Connection, Auto-sync, Airplane Mode, Brightness Control, Battery Indicator, Vibration/Silent Mode, Auto-Rotate Screen, Screen Always On, Reload SD Card, Unlock Pattern, Reboot (Rooted), Flashlight, 3G-2G, Speaker Mode, Auto-screen Lock, 4G Toggle.
Definitely worth the $0.99 to download!
