I know how to check the bootloader screen, I just wasn't sure what should be there. I ended up going to a different computer and re-downloading the HSPL un-locker and got it to unlock. I did have to go through the anti-virus program and deliberately make exceptions for the HSPL to get it to work. I have now flashed to an energy ROM successfully.
The SPL should say something like "1.00.OliNex" to be unlocked, and something like "0.70.0000" or "0.63.0000" if it is still locked.
