Just to be clear if your phone has never been rooted and you received the latest OTA update from HTC you cannot root your device at this time.

With that said do I think that a none rooted device with the update be able to root (which is the original question)? I would say that if it takes more than 72 hours then its going to be weeks too a couple months. Will they do it? I don't think anyone can say with a 100% accuracy. My gut is telling me that they most likely will find a way, but it could take quite a while.
