My guess would be that the lagginess is due to the 2.2 system, which is probably in an even-more-unoptimized state than 2.1 and previous. There's nothing in the startup.txt that will save you from that.

In other news, out of the blue, sleep started working just fine on the RAPH500. Maybe I just wasn't giving it enough time before -- or I was starting some application that wakelocked and wouldn't let go. Anyway, since I don't actually use the phone on it, I put it in airplane mode and tested the battery life. At 32 hours and going strong (though when I turn it on to check, it says to connect the charger...which I guess doesn't tell me much.)

Still not quite right (a sleeping phone in airplane mode should last weeks), but it's not bad.

(Edit: Sometime between hour 32 and hour 36 it gave up the ghost. I'll take it. Now if we could just get half that with the radio on.)
