I would have done the same thing. I work in Mobile. I always look at the phones when people return them to see if they've been hacked. Don't get mad at the guy because you screwed up your phone. It's not his fault you live 25 miles from the store. It's not his fault you rooted and broke your phone. Everyone knows the risks of flashing phones and that it voids your warranty. He was actually being cool by not making a note in the system to not do a return. At least he gave you the chance to fix it. Be grateful they'll do it at all. Good luck getting it un-rooted.
