As for the post you quoted:
Well those are simply cases of your temporary internet files and cache climbing.
Look at Pocket IE and see what percentage of CPU and Ram it uses, even when idle.
As for the mail sync, same thing.
These are cases of those apps, munching ram.
Not specific issues with CHT.
As you said, if you turn off mail sync, your ram stops climbing.
