USB Debugging is enabled. It seems like the communication between the pc and the evo isnt happening. Just a guess...
Look at the post above yours, seems he was having similar issues as you. Is HTC Sync installed on your PC? You don't need to run it during the root process but when you install it some file/drivers are installed which may help.
My other thought is *possibly* your USB got knocked out during the process, a few users have reported that.
If HTC Sync doesnt fix it find a post of mine with my Sig and click the link that says "XDA FIX......." the steps in that thread pertaining to USB may help. Gotta work today and my boss doesnt like me staring at my phone so I may not be back on till tonight.

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
reboot recovery

After that step, my problems start appearing. But I have done the step prior to this that looks similar, but uses the mtd-eng.img. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but flashing the recovery.img just allows me to boot into recovery without a pc? So basically I'm fully rooted, but I can't boot into recovery without a pc. If that's all I'm missing out on then I'm cool with that.

The first post says I'm rooted if I get a "#" symbol when I run "c:\evo-recovery\adb-windows shell" and thats exactly what I get.
That MAY be correct. Do you have a NAND backup? As per Fast, you can't restore it if you are not fully rooted. Another way to check is to reboot into Recovery with the most up to date ROM Manager, you need full root to do this or it will hang on the red triangle screen. Let us know.
