the way you apply them is by clicking on them. Nothing will pop up when you press them on your phone like you are trying to open it but it will be applied in the background.
Like i said to avoid having to open it everytime you soft reset just copy or move them into the folder \Windows\Startup and it will happen automatically eveerytime you start your phone.
