I've got a few questions. I was having some of these issues on an older build, but now I've upgraded to the June 5 21xxx Cookie build, and the problems are still happening.

First, when I hold down the 1 key on the phone keypad, it does not dial my voicemail. This is really annoying, but I set up speed dial #2 as my cell number as a work around. I would still like to get this fixed anyway though.

Second, sometimes I can't answer phone calls. The phone will ring and pop up the slide to answer/ignore screen. I'll slide to answer, and the screen will get stuck with the slider to the left, and the LEDs will continue to flash like the phone is ringing, although it will stop audibly ringing. I can hit the physical answer button too, and it still just keeps going like that until it rings enough times to go to voicemail. This is probably the most annoying bug that I have to deal with right now.

Third, the phone tends to keep locking itself really fast during a phone call. Normally I don't mind, but it's annoying when I'm on a call that requires keys to be pressed, like when listening to voicemail. I'll call the number, and it will lock right away. I'll then proceed to unlock the phone to get the dial pad up, and often it will lock on me again before I get a chance to hit anything else. On a given voicemail call, I'll have to unlock the phone 5 or 6 times over the duration of the call. Isn't there any way to keep the phone from locking during a call?

Another thing that I find annoying is the new SMS/MMS stuff. I used to be able to open up a received MMS from Sense, tap on the little attachment icon, and instantly view the attachment. Now for some reason it has to open up in another app first (the one with the hideous speech bubbles) and I have to tap on another icon to get it to open.

I have one more question... Why the downgrade to Opera 9.7? The last build that I used had version 10, which I thought had some nicer features.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Ok let me try
long press of the 1 key, if you go to settings, personal, phone. is your number for your voicemail set?

The lock issue. Are you using the cookie lock or the one in the system folder, Lock Config? I also had issues with the cookie lock. After turning it off in cht editor and enabling lock config I have had no issues.

the hideous speech bubbles. Disable them by entering sense sms, menu, message option, then disable speech bubble.

the downgrade to opera 9.7 was explained by nrg on his twitter page as being more stable.
Hope this helped
