There is no such thing as the perfect platform/phone for everyone. In this day and age of everyone trying to get rich quick through the court system, looks like Google/HTC/Samsung/Palm/Sony have erred on the side of caution, at least in the US.
If this phone was advertised as being able to record voice calls, that would be one thing. I would say "let's bash *insert name here* until we get this feature". But no phone manufacturer makes this claim, so we aren't being denied anything that we were promised. But keep fighting the good fight.

Good points, there were alot of threads about it when companies started removing the feature from new model phones but it has since faded which is why we need to keep the discussion alive. I will have to do some research on the unlocked phones. You are right no promises were made except that the platform was totaly open.
