I've used a task killer since day one but after reading a few articles, I've stopped to see if I get better performance. After 2 days of not using a task killer, I see marginally better performance and no difference in battery life...

While these are good articles they don't seem to explain why programs we are never launching are suddenly running.

For example. True scenario. I killed all currently running applications with ATK. I press the power button turning off my screen and put my EVO in my pocket.10 minutes later I pull it out and hit the power button. I open gmail and see that I have1 email, I read it, back out of everything back to my home screen. I then open ATK and see that I now have 7 apps running! At least 2-3 of them I never use at all.

Any explanations?
