It looks like XDA pulled the plug on the above thread. Someone complained that it was against forum rules because it involved the advertising of software, even though the author of the program was not the OP. He was just answering a question and mentioned his app.
Anyway, a few World Cup programs have popped up the past few days. The one referenced above can be found in the What's New section of Windows Marketplace. It's World Cup 2010 by IJP Consulting Ltd.
I've bought it and I'd say it's worth the money. It lists all the matches, breaks down the groups, will update the points for each group and give the match results. It also gives you the latest World Cup news. It only gives you the headlines, but the author may be putting out an update with the full news story. The program was already updated once with added venue pics.
