I would say no....I have turned off updates on mine....I'll be updating the ROM soon, that will include the updates. Unfortunately it probably wont be tonight, I left my damn usb cable @ home.

did you install the latest wifi tether app, the one I attached? the one in the rom has the issue you are describing
