I have no idea what unrevoked does. Sounds like you have the phone rooted, but you haven't done any of the other steps.
Try following my directions from the 1st post and do the Recovery.

On ppcgeeks, you'll find the roms in the
CDMA HTC Evo 4G Upgrades section.
I don't know how to install apps to the sd card. I've installed over 20 apps and have never seen an option for selecting a location.
I suppose you can remove the file from your sd card. However, I don't know of anyway to get into recovery mode other than using the "recovery-windows.bat" from the pc.
I have not been able to tether through Wifi or USB so far.
