Can't you try recreating the contact on your gmail account and resyncing? Or export all your contacts like you did, then delete all of them ( from gmail ) and then re-import them to gmail...then resync?

There has to be a better/easier way to do it. Why in the world would your contacts numbers not show up all of a sudden? Did you install something? I just can't see this being something other than that.... how did you get you contacts to gmail in the first place? Did they show up earlier?

Are you coming from WM?
If you are coming from WM it sounds that when you got your contacts to google that the fields were messed up and the phone # was placed in the notes field rather than the # field
