if it matters, I DID accept the OTA update when i turned on the phone (I should of checked on here first, as my understanding is I may not be able to root my phone now)
besides this I LOVE the Evo.. it SO fast! although im still a total newb to android... is their any sort of FAQ out for this phone or android in general? I'm pretty technical but my 6 years of smart phone experience has been entirely with windows mobile.

Check your orientation settings in sounds & display. Make sure its checked. Also, recalibrate with g-sensor calibration.
