Re: Newbie to Android OS.....File transfer to SD question

oo! oo! my turn! I've been messing with the phone and around the net all day trying to figure these questions out on my own (mostly so I wouldn't seem as stupid as I am. :P) anyway, here goes my questions.

should I be able to access the sd card directly from the phone instead of having to hoop it up to a computer as a disk drive?

also, what folders should be on the card? I'm asking this coz some peeps keep talking about folders that I don't have (or I can't locate) on mine. the list of folders that show on mine when I hook it up via usb are:
.bookmark_thumb1 (that's for the browser bookmarks, right?)
.footprints (no clue)
.Mail (even I can figure that one out! e-mail)
albumthumbs (album cover thumbnails, I'm guessing)
dcim
HTC Sync (so obvious even I got that one)
LOST.DIR (no clue)
Music (uh huh. deleted the crap that was preloaded in that one)
notifications (I made this one trying to get my old text etc notification sounds to work, and it did! woo hoo!)
ringers (again, me, to get my old ringtones to show up and work)
rosie_scroll (rosie palm's cousin? *shrug*)
rssreader (that's for friendstream thing, I think?)
Sample Photo (again, even I got this one. deleted most of those too)
thumbs (I think this is where the phone holds thumbnail screenshots of previously viewed webpages so they load faster)

and that's all that's been on my card since I got the phone. anybody have different ones or more than that?

oh yeah, one other thing, previously I was able to delete the preloaded bookmarks that I didn't want, but then decided to do a hard reset and start all over including all the updates and now can't singly delete the preloaded bookmarks (or can't remember how I did it in the first place). any clues on that one?

and here's an observation: when I did a hard reset following the directions in the booklet, it didn't wipe the "ringers" folder I'd originally placed in the "Music" folder.

so can anybody help a computard with a phone smarter than him out?
