Ok I don't know about YOUR intrepid, on mine I can push the power button to wake up the device start typing, I get a list of names with those letters that I just typed I can keep typing until I get down to one name, or I can scroll down to the person I want, hit the enter button, that opens THAT contact, I just choose send text message, it opens the texting window, I type the message and hit send, it sends the message...to the person I want it to go to, it took me about 10 times longer to type this message then to do the job I discribed.
