After doing this, I went from one to two or three bars of signal, and hopefully increased battery life as well. While Verizon does have a lot of 3G coverage, it can't compare to the strength of non-3G coverage.
I was wondering about forcing EVDO instead of the 3G. My bandwidth went from around 700kbps in EVDO to less than 500kbps in 3G here. It looks like this config only allows 1X. Any way to allow EVDO but not 3G?
