it seems to me (and what i did for video on my TP2), that to keep the true aspect ratio of HD, you would want to set your downscaled resolution to be 800x450; 16:9 using 100% of the width with 15 pixel letterboxes on top and bottom.

I hope I dont come off as someone who knows everything about converting videos,because i pretty much follow directions and adjust as I go..When i had it set at 480x800 it took up the whole screen and stretched it out vertically..Changed 800 to 720 and letter box on top and bottom is what i got..My preset saved for that conversion is WIDTH:480 HEIGHT:720 Codec H.264 avg bitrate 1500...I totally understand what you said and it makes sense but this is what i got with these settings,maybe its EVO magic
